Progress.

Since starting this blog, I've been confused as to why content hasn't been profusely pouring out of my brain. I think about sustainable living almost all of the time now. There are so many things, big and small, that need to change when going zero-waste and I have found it hard to document and explain them all while starting out.

I think that mental assessment is a major part in creating these changes in life. This is a personal choice that needs to be sorted out within before it can be interpreted and shared externally. Size up the situation, identify your perimeters, and start making changes in the moment. Before you start buying in bulk, making your own toothpaste, and phasing out plastic, your whole mindset around life has to change to accommodate this idea.

Where am I now:
- Reusable shopping bags - plastic shopping bags are a thing of the past.
- Refusing styrofoam, and any grocery item packaged in recyclable material - the goal is to eventually generate no waste when purchasing for meals, but transitionally this step is making it easier to filter decisions and source where to get ingredients.
- Shampoo! I tried my first shampoo bar from Lush and I loved it - I am hoping to learn how to make my own soon. Otherwise, I am using natural/organic products without synthetics that come in recyclable materials.
- "Project Empty" - I still have quite a bit of product that doesn't align with zero-waste ideology leftover from my point of inspiration. Using these products until they are empty diminishes their waste.
- Straw Refusal - Reject straws at restaurants and bars to eliminate this wasteful habit.

It can be overwhelming to attack it all at once, and I have gotten hung up on that quite a few times within the past couple months. Moving forward, I am hoping to tackle a topic weekly to adjust slowly, thoughtfully, and successfully so as not to get discouraged. Living zero-waste can be challenging as resources are not always readily available.

So here we go! I am looking forward to moving into the knowledge- share part of my journey, and I hope you find the content as inspiring as I have found this movement to be.

NEXT STOP: DIY Deodorant - I will be focusing on different formulas by popular zero-waste blogs, my test of store-bought natural deodorants, and how I (hopefully) was able to find a solution for my sensitive pits!
